On Sunday April 21, at 3PM the Lowell Youth Orchestra (LYO) the senior ensemble of the UMass Lowell String Project featured an original composition by Dan Ellsey. Dan was diagnosed with severe Cerebral Palsy at 5 and can neither walk or talk. As a patient at Tewksbury Hospital he got to work with a software inventor, Tod Machover from the MIT Media Lab. Through this adaptive technology he discovered his love of creating music. Thanks to funding from a UMass Lowell Creative Economy Grant to Kay Roberts and the LYO this concert was performed at UTEC – http://utec-lowell.org — 34 Hurd St. Lowell, MA 01852, Phone: 978.441.9949
Technical Director for this event was a UMass Lowell Alum- Matt Ianotti from Dreaming In Digital Studio
Please visit Dan’s website to find out more about his work and music.
